Website Analysis 1- ELLE Magazine
When you first enter Elle’s website, you are greeted with the main story in that moment taking up the majority of the screen. This story needs to appeal to a wide audience, so it needs to attract audiences and show them what the magazine is about. The cover line is the largest text to appear on the screen at first and is in a sans serif font to attract its audiences who are primarily female. The main story is also where the only colour is when you first enter the website, the imagery containing colours will attract the audience to that part of the website as it stands out from the rest of the website's style. The overall colour scheme of the paper is very neutral, only containing black and white, apart from the images. Across the top of the screen there is a menu button and next to it the masthead of the magazine, this is in a fairly small font which is unusual for magazines who want to promote things being their products. On the right side of the website there is a section where you can subscribe or sign in, which is how the magazine makes their money as well as through advertisements. Below this there is a contents section for easy access to other areas of the website, this makes the magazine website very accessible as it is easy to use. These sections include fashion, beauty and culture, which solidifies the magazine's intentions with what the magazine will offer. This is good for the audience as it is not hard to find out what the magazine is about. Underneath the main story there are individual sections for each of the content's subjects. The target audience for this magazine is women who are 20-29 years old and have a large presence on social media.
