Not long after entering Marie Claire's website you are greeted by a pop up asking you to subscribe, this technique of advertising gets the user to enter their email before having a change to look at the website this is a tactic so that the magazine can use emails to prompt its audience to read the newspaper. At the top of the page there is a logo for Marie Claire to create a familiar feeling for the physical printed magazines. Next to this masthead are links to their social media pages which suggests that the magazine may have quite a high social media presence. There is then a contents section which is similar to other magazines' websites. Some topics that are listed are hair & beauty, fashion and health. Underneath this there is another row of trending topics. This is a good way to attract a mass audience as people may be interested in what is trending. There is one main cover line that can be seen when first loading onto the website. This is the thing that people will first look at as it is the largest thing you can see when first entering the website. The overall colour scheme of the website is very neutral as are many fashion magazines websites, however there are a lot of bright colours within the images on the page. When scrolling down the page, the next thing that we are greeted by is another line of top stories. This allows the magazine to attract multiple audiences as they can include multiple top stories. As you go down the page, there are multiple prompts to make you subscribe to them. This is because this is their primary source of income from the website, and they need to earn a profit from it.
